To Our Clients, Alumni and Friends:
We are pleased to announce with the continued loyalty of our clients, and the support from our alumni and friends, our firm has just completed the best year since it was established in 1980. With deep appreciation for the confidence you have shown in our firm, it is our privilege to report on a few of our accomplishments in 2008.
We are delighted to help clients across Nebraska and beyond. Individuals, community leaders, private businesses, nonprofit organizations and local governments entrust us with many of their significant legal challenges. Our greatest professional fulfillment comes from the trust and support we enjoy from our clients. We are pleased that the skills and talents of our lawyers are brought to bear on significant issues of the day.
We are delighted by the diversity of our work. Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory or www.martindale.com/Richard-L-Boucher/1057416-Lawyer.htm assigns our firm its highest national “AV” rating. A sampling of the highlights of our 2008 closed cases follows:
# Our lawyers advised a wide range of nonprofit organizations on issues as diverse as personal injury to employment discrimination. Ten (10) significant cases were closed for recognizable organizations that make our communities better each day with essential health care services. We continue to work with a statewide law enforcement organization and a statewide association of realtor professionals. We were pleased for the opportunity to work this year with one of Nebraska's premier builder and contractor organizations.
Our work with nonprofit organizations continues to influence our range of services. We offer “Legal Audits” to assure compliance with law, reduce the specter of liability, protect its tax exempt status, fundraising protocols, employment issues, edit handbooks, among other things. We are told it adds to the peace of mind of Boards of Directors in these turbulent financial times and in our litigation oriented society.
# We successfully defended a sizeable health care provider accused by the Federal Office of Civil Rights of discrimination in child adoption services.
# Three personal injury cases were settled for a total sum of more than two million dollars. The clients were from Lincoln, Florida and New Mexico.
# Since 1987, we have been honored to advise and represent local governments or their risk allocation pool in a vast array of cases including negligence, tax certificates, wrongful deaths, law enforcement, jails, among others. This year’s closed cases include employment discrimination, public meeting cases, zoning challenges and others.
# The firm continues to successfully handle some of the most challenging Social Security disability cases involving brain injury or disease.
# We are delighted that insurance carriers and risk allocation providers in Nebraska, Pennsylvania and Arizona continue as long term clients.
We continue to serve the community and help those who are less fortunate. I am honored to serve on the Board of the Community Health Endowment, the Asian Cultural Center and the Lincoln City Charter Revision Commission. I do this because of the organizations’ worthy purposes and missions. Since 1983, I have worked with many elected public officials. I have left the burdens of public service, and its corollary, politics, mostly to others. I have learned over the last several years that public office would be a small price for the privilege of being part of this outstanding community. I am convinced that much good can come from giving one’s best to public service and public office. All of us have the capacity to make our community a better place.
Above are just a few of the significant results we and our clients have achieved together in 2008. We value our clients. Thank you for the responsibilities you have entrusted to us. We hope to serve you again in the future.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
BOUCHER LAW FIRM
